Biographical Information
Jay has lived and worked in and around the Pittsburgh area for the past 10 years. He has been focused on 2 and 3 dimensional media since his graduation from IUP in August of 2000. He has shown relentlessly since 1998, participating in more than 50 exhibitions (6 Solo, 17 Juried, 24 Group, and 8 Festivals) in 12 different states. His work has taken the shape of painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and assemblage. In recent years his work has shifted away from the stoic and cerebral to the purely emotional and evocative. All of the content for his current work is drawn from his own life and values.
Jay's interest in philosophy and voracious appetite for music and literature has played a considerable role in the development of his work. A vehement atheist since the age of 18, Jay has denounced any and all religious beliefs in favor of the human will to create as his highest moral ideal.
