I've been making art for quite some time, but I've been showing for 10 years. Painting is unquestionably my favorite, and most comfortable medium. I loosely refer to my works as "paintings", knowing full well that they're technically too sculptural to be classified that way. I suppose that they're really "assemblages", but that word seems misleading. "Assemblage" sounds to me like a more sculptural form of collage. Each of my pieces begins as a unique idea, and gets designed and built from scratch. Any found objects that I might use are simply employed as compositional elements. Regardless of it's classification, the purpose of my work is always the same. Each time I create a new piece, I aim to create the most beautiful thing I can, and express myself entirely with it. It's fair to say that I use my art as a mode of self-exploration, though it's important to note that I also use it as a mode of self-definition.
